The Perfect Tree
So here we go again. Haven't we been here before? Oh yes...this is place I said I would never go to again. In search of the perfect Christmas tree we find ourselves at a "cut your own tree" farm. We came here 2 years ago on a day very similar to this one. It was cold, no sun visible at all, snowing and muddy underfoot. We spent about an hour in the car just getting to this farm on this 30 degree day and the whole while I kept saying to myself, "We said we would never do this again". The rest of the gang was very excited so I decided to play along. There was a brief moment that I tried to sabotage the whole "cut your own tree" when we passed by a Christmas tree drive thru. Yes, a drive thru. You pull in, they show you trees while you sit in your car and sip hot chocolate, you say yay or nay, and the yay they put on top of your car and you drive away. How sweet is that? Genius actually. But alas my attempt failed. I was going to get cold. We arrived and began our search. We walked for what seemed like miles looking at tree after tree after tree. Nothing. After about 45 minutes I couldn't hold it in any more. It came out. My true feelings about this trip. "I thought we weren't going to do this again". Apparently my better half was thinking the same thing. Although I hated the whole idea, looking back I am glad we went. The kids are getting older and how many years do I have left that we will all be able to go together? The years are getting more precious as I try to hold onto the children I have. So even though I complained and hated the whole experience I wouldn't trade it for the world. Creating memories is priceless.
